VR and AR in the beauty sector

As a first draft for my PPT I decided to start off with a plan to help me understand and flocks on the key points of my research, VR and AR in the beauty sector. I am planning to understand what impact this can have on Gen Z and women that use apps like Modiface and what benefits and cons they face. As I will be going to the US for the Easter Break I will also will be focusing on VR and this is why I will be trying to book a demo for the Apple Vision Pro, the only VR headset which currently has the Elf Cosmetics App ‘Your Best Self’ to play with the cosmetics products available and allow users to shop more easily.21/03/2024

On this day i tried the Apple Vision Pro where I managed to try different features which are one of a kind. After 20 minutes I was eager to try ‘Your Best Elf’ which was an incredible experience. I managed to immerse myself in a complete different and unique world where you can see which products are new and which you like. This experience was really important and personally i think it woul.d be pivotal for anyone to understand the future of marketin g and of our shopping experience.26/03/2024

This is Modiface, an AR Virtual try on app by L’Oreal. I encountered this while researching about the future of beauty brands. What is really interesting about this is that it is ion collaboration with Amazon making it easier for women too try and buy.27/03/2024

The concerns behind AR (Privacy)

Something that I haven’t touched on yet are the privacy concerns that arise with AR and from my research I found out that: AR collects data just like pother technologies however they collect biometric data which identifies individuals that creates experiences but exarcebates privacy concerns; regulating AR will leave policy a step behind innovation; policymakers should try and make innovation-friendly regulations. AR technologies are sensors that collect data to create immersive experiences for the users and those require location, movements and demographic details.31/03/2024

A pivotal article that I encountered this week happened to be on the Financial Times explaining how start-ups are looking to recreate the shopping experience. Personally I think this article relates to my project as beauty brands are trying too automatically sell more and more fast with AR providing the consumer with all the products available. As the article also explains, Apple and Google are also investing heavily on it, Apple Vision Pro and ‘Your Best Self’, confirming that not only startups but also monopolies are finding themselves investing in Augmented Reality. 2/04/2024

Over Half of those with a skin condition feel judged by others

https://www.britishskinfoundation.org.uk/news/over-half-of-those-with-a-skin-condition-feel-judged-by-others

For my EPP I decided to research how many people feel judged when having a skin conditions and I encounter a survey done in 2021 by the British Skin Foundation and the results shocked me as 83% says that their skin relates to their mental wellbeing, 53% feel judged by others when ´skin is talked about and 20% are unhappy with how their skin looks. It is clear that this is a big issue for the UK and how it affects people mental health too which means that people need support and reassurance.10/04/2024
